SMS terms
Quick reference
1. Program description
ServeSlot LLC ("ServeSlot," "we," "our," or "us") operates an SMS messaging program that allows coordinators to send automated text (SMS) reminders to volunteers who have explicitly opted in to receive them for a specific event. Messages are transactional in nature — they relate directly to the event you signed up for — and include reminders, signup confirmations, and two-way reply processing.
ServeSlot does not send promotional or marketing SMS messages.
2. How to opt in
Volunteers opt in by checking the "Send me text reminders" checkbox on an event signup form and providing their mobile phone number. The opt-in is voluntary. Volunteers who do not provide a phone number or do not check the SMS opt-in box will still receive email reminders if an email address is provided. Coordinators on a paid plan may enable or disable SMS reminders per event.
By opting in, you consent to receive automated text messages from ServeSlot at the phone number you provided. Consent is not a condition of signing up for a volunteer slot.
3. Message frequency and content
Message frequency depends on the event schedule configured by the coordinator. Typically, ServeSlot sends up to 3 SMS messages per event per volunteer:
- Reminder approximately 3 days before the event
- Reminder approximately 1 day before the event
- Reminder approximately 2 hours before the event
You may also receive: (1) a single confirmation message when you first sign up, if the coordinator has enabled confirmations; (2) operational messages such as a notification that an event you signed up for has been cancelled or rescheduled by the coordinator; and (3) additional messages if your two-way reply triggers a follow-up (e.g., replying ? to request event details).
ServeSlot will not use SMS to send marketing messages, promotional offers, or advertising content.
Sample message
Messages will look similar to the following:
"Hi [Name], reminder: you're signed up to serve at [Event Name] on [Date] at [Time] ET. Reply Y to confirm, N to cancel, or ? for details. Reply STOP to opt out."
4. Two-way replies
ServeSlot supports the following reply keywords:
- Y (or Yes) — confirms your signup. You'll receive a brief confirmation.
- N (or No) — cancels your signup and releases your slot for others.
- ? — requests a follow-up message with full event details (date, time, location, coordinator contact).
- STOP — opts you out of all SMS messages from ServeSlot. You will receive one final confirmation that you have been unsubscribed.
- HELP — returns a message with contact information for support.
Reply variations are accepted (e.g., y, yes, YES, n, no, NO). Reply keywords are not case-sensitive.
5. How to opt out
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, CANCEL, QUIT, or OPT-OUT to any ServeSlot text message. After you send STOP, you will receive one final message confirming your unsubscribe request, and no further messages will be sent to your number from ServeSlot. You may also opt out by contacting us directly at contact@wessidemedia.com.
If you opt out of SMS, you may still receive email reminders if you provided an email address at signup.
To opt back in after opting out, reply START to any previous ServeSlot message, or re-enable SMS notifications on a future event signup form.
5a. Eligibility
To receive ServeSlot SMS messages you must: (1) be a resident of the United States; (2) have a mobile phone capable of receiving SMS messages; (3) be the subscriber or authorized user of the phone number you provide; and (4) be at least 13 years of age. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent before providing a phone number.
6. Carrier rates and compatibility
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. ServeSlot is not responsible for any charges from your mobile carrier. ServeSlot SMS messages are compatible with most US mobile carriers. Delivery is not guaranteed — carrier delivery failures are outside our control.
7. Phone number use and privacy
Your phone number is used solely to deliver event-related messages on behalf of the coordinator whose event you signed up for. We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Your number is shared with Twilio, Inc., our SMS delivery provider, solely to transmit messages. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.
8. No sharing of opt-in data
Phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent collected through ServeSlot will not be shared with any third party for their own SMS marketing or promotional messaging purposes.
9. Supported carriers
ServeSlot SMS messages are available on all major US wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and others. Availability may vary. ServeSlot is not liable for non-delivery due to carrier filtering or device compatibility.
10. Changes to this program
We may update these SMS Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notice. Your continued participation in the SMS program after the effective date of updated terms constitutes acceptance.
